Cat & Kevin: An Intimate Cedar Rapids Wedding

July 13, 2017

The day dawned clear and beautiful in late May with more and more clouds rolling in as the day moved on, it was a quintessential Iowa day.  Even the cottonwood trees lent a hand during the ceremony, sending down a light dusting of snow-like cotton just in time for the vows.  Cat and Kevin's story begins when they met online and immediately began sharing their weird sense of humor.  Their first date at the Clinton Street Social Club left them both wanting to get to know each other more.  Their second date involved a discussion about zombie apocalypse survival strategies which was brought on by the odd emptiness of the mall that evening (which is completely awesome in my book)!  Once they decided they wanted to get married, Kevin proposed in the exact spot where they shared their first kiss.

As far as wedding planning goes Cat took a very hands on approach and DIY'ed all the floral arrangements and decorations herself, and everything looked great!  The place settings were decorated with origami butterflies and the reception area was full of handmade paper flowers.   Cat even had a cape instead of a veil!  I loved everything about this wedding and the little details were the icing on the cake (or the sprinkles on the ice cream in this case)!!

Cat and Kevin's first dance was AH-MAZ-ING!  They started slow with a simple waltz to Somewhere Only We Know, dancing each other around the dance floor in front of friends and family, then BOOM, it cuts into Bret's Angry Dance from Flight of the Conchords.  This was without a doubt the most fun first dance I've seen!  It was choreographed and most importantly, you could tell just how much fun they were having with it!

Anyone can see that Cat and Kevin are kindred spirits.  We wish them a lifetime of awesomeness and adventure!!

Thank you to all the wonderful vendors!
