A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of doing a vendor spotlight on two amazing businesses in the Iowa City area, Hydrangea Bloom and Diamond Leaf Jewelers. Allison from Hydrangea Bloom and Miriam from Diamond Leaf Jewelers are so creative and passionate about what they do and love helping fulfill their clients' vision. These ladies are wonderful! Check out more about their businesses below!
"My favorite part of my job is taking a bride's vision, what they thought about when they were a little girl, and making it into reality, and being able to do that within their budget"
Allison officially started Hydrangea Bloom in March of this year and is loving working with wedding clients to create their visions for all their floral needs. What's her favorite flower you ask? Well, hydrangea's of course!! The first step in having Allison work on your floral designs is to set up a consultation, which you can do from her Facebook page, website or via email.
Current trends Allison is seeing are a lot of greens - garlands, and succulents (which we LOVE by the way). The classics like blush, ivory and burgundy are still pretty popular as well. Peonies are a popular flower but can be kind of pricey depending on the time of year, the best bet for peonies is to have a June wedding while they are all blooming. For your floral event and wedding needs we definitely recommend Hydrangea Bloom!
Diamond Leaf Jewelers:
"I love connecting with custom clients and doing the recon necessary to figure out their likes and, probably more importantly, their dislikes, so that I can create a ring that fits them perfectly"
Located in the Iowa River Landing in Coralville, Diamond Leaf Jewelers offers clients a quality boutique experience creating custom handcrafted jewelry. Miriam, the shop owner and manager, has 13 years of experience in the jewelry business and it shows in her dedication and passion for the custom pieces she creates.
Creating a custom piece begins with a consultation, whether both parties are present or just one. Miriam's job at that point is to do recon to figure out their likes and dislikes, to create the perfect engagement ring for them that fits both their personality and their budget. Her biggest piece of advice for couples just starting to look at engagement rings is to recognize that there is a big difference between custom-handcrafted pieces and the mass produced stuff that you will see at bigger stores in the area. Each handcrafted ring at Diamond Leaf Jewelers is designed and modeled by Miriam and then, once approved, sent to an expert craftsman to create. It is truly a one of a kind experience.
Although prices for mass produced rings may be lower, you may end up paying more in maintenance costs and replacement costs later. As Miriam pointed out, sometimes the mass produced rings just don't have enough metal in them to make repairs, which can cause numerous problems down the line. With Diamond Leaf Jewelers you can be sure that the jewelry you are getting has been crafted, start to finish, with the utmost care and quality materials. They're pretty gorgeous too!
