We had the honor of photographing Megan and Matthew's wedding last November at Northridge Pavilion. It was a beautiful intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends, with one of their best friends officiating. There were so many wonderful details, from the gorgeous red and white bouquets to the centerpieces to the amazing cake that Megan's mother made!
Megan and Matthew met while working together after Megan had returned from Honduras. Megan and Matthew's officiant Ian played matchmaker one day and invited them both to a game night at his house. As Megan puts it "Ian kind of brought Matt and I together and saw it even before Matt and I were friends. Ian eventually invited us to his house for game night with his wife and let me and Matt to be partners all night. We had so much fun that Matt eventually invited me to hang out at his place and we were basically inseparable ever since." Megan and Matthew quickly fell for each other!
When it came time to propose Matthew had his proposal ruined many times! The first time being when he planned to propose on the Cliffs of Moher on their anniversary trip in Ireland. When Megan changed their itinerary at the last minute she noticed that Matthew began to panic. Eventually she got it out of him that he had planned to propose and he then decided that he'd find another way and couldn't do it without the surprise! About two weeks before the big trip...and after many more ruined proposals, Matthew decided that he just couldn't wait any longer. On a fairly ordinary day they ended up at their favorite pond and sat by the water enjoying the weather and some ice cream. They walked around the pond and ended up on a dock overlooking the water. Just as Megan was ready to go home she started for the car and realized Matthew was not with her. She looked back and realized that Matthew hadn't left the dock. She walked back to him and and was worried because she thought he was going to be sick. He fiddled around with his jacket and pockets and wouldn't respond. Matthew was panicking because the ring box got stuck in his pocket!! Once it was free he got down on one knee on the dock and asked Megan to marry him. "I was completely surprised. I had no idea he'd do it then and I immediately said yes."
Their favorite things to do together revolve around traveling and food. "If we're not at home cuddling the cats, we're usually out shopping for food to cook together or eating food. I swear we've been to half the restaurants in Iowa City already! We are always planning our next project or trip." Here's to many more happy years of adventure for Megan and Matthew!!
